The final five contestants in the UK Plumber of the Year competition have been announced to be interviewed by a panel of specialists in the final round.

Things are really heating up in the lead-up to the UK Plumber of the Year competition.

Last month we shared the shortlist of contestants competing for the prestigious title. The competition, developed by JTPlumb Center and Bristan to celebrate the best of UK plumbing, chose 15 plumbers from across the UK for the shortlist. The public was asked to vote for their favourites, and now that shortlist has been cut by two thirds. So congratulations to those plumbing heroes going through to the final round.

Here are the final five UK Plumber of the Year contestants (in no particular order)

  • Paul Maguire – Glasgow
  • Gareth Lloyd – Hereford
  • Thomas Foster – Dundee
  • Tom Jenkins – Treorchy, Glamorgan
  • Drew Styles – Wigan

If you’ve forgotten what the winner is in for, look no further. Last year’s winner took home £10,000 worth of prizes. This included JT and Bristan products, Plumb Center vouchers and products from Arctic, Big Wipes, CAT, CK Tools, Epson, Milwaukee, Monument, PayPal, Regin, Rothenberger and Toolbank.

So what happens next?

During September, experts from JT, Bristan, Wolseley Plumb Center and Watersafe will interview each of the finalists. The contestants will be looking to dazzle the panel and demonstrate why they should be named UK Plumber of the Year. interviews are stressful enough at the best of times without a national title on the line! But we wish them all luck.

Here’s what Paul Crossley, managing director of JT, had to say.

“Well done to the five finalists who have made it through to the final stage of the competition. With over 4,500 votes this year, the competition to win is stronger than ever and we look forward to meeting the guys later this month as they look to impress our judging panel in their last-ditch attempt to win. Best of luck to each of them.”
