We sat down with the Lawnmaster himself to discuss 10 years in the lawn maintenance game.

What’s your name and your company name?

Scott Horsburgh.  Lawnmaster

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Based in the KT, SM and SW postcodes We offer bespoke lawn care for your garden ensuring it stays healthy and in the best condition all year round. Examples of our work can be seen on Instagram – Lawnmaster_kt_sm or www.lawnmaster.co.uk.

Why did you get into your chosen trade?

I have been a greenkeeper for over 10 years so can now apply that knowledge and experience to your Lawn.

What do you enjoy most about your trade, and running a business?

Seeing the transformation of a lawn from weed or moss covered to a lovely lush healthy lawn that the customer is proud of.

Looking at it the other way around, what do you like the least?

It is often difficult to manage the expectations of some customers whose lawn may not react immediately to the treatment. Patience is key to what we do.

If you were starting out again, what would you do differently?

I would make sure my marketing went out earlier in the year to ensure that come Spring everybody was aware of us and what we do.

What’s the best bit of advice you’ve been given?

To never guarantee any treatment 100% as in this industry you are always dealing with mother nature.

What’s your favourite piece of kit (e.g. tools, van etc.) and why?

Scarifying a lawn Is satisfying, it enable you to see just how much rubbish can be removed from a lawn without having to dig up and start again, and once its over-seeded the transformation is remarkable.

What top tip would you give homeowners to help them save money on home maintenance?

In the lawn care industry I am always telling people not to cut the grass too short and to ensure falling leaves are cleared in Autumn.

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

Where’s your favourite place to eat out, and why?

Mimosa. A choice of everything
